Paul Bucherer-Dietschi receives an honorary doctorate, Rahel Baer receives the Emilie Louise Frey Prize for the promotion of young female academics, Dr. des. Jennifer Burri is awarded the Faculty Prize
Paul Bucherer-Dietschi, who established the Bibliotheca Afghanica together with his late wife Veronika Bucherer-Dietschi, received an honorary doctorate from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. In doing so, he decisively promoted and secured the research and documentation of the geography, history, culture and nature of Afghanistan and anchored it in the Basel region.
Rahel Baer, MA, received the Emilie Louise Frey Prize for the promotion of young female academics, sponsored by the Swiss Association of Women Academics Basel, for her Master's thesis “Gendergerechte Sprache in kurzen Schulbuchtexten der Sekundarstufe I” at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. In it, she proved that the use of gender-equitable language forms in school texts does not impair comprehensibility.
The Humanities Prize of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, sponsored by the L. & Th. La Roche Foundation, was awarded to Dr. des. Jennifer Burri.
