Further academic qualification for early career researchers
Postdocs are usually young, early career researchers employed at the University in various capacities (research associate, academic associate, project manager, assistant lecturer).
The postdoc phase starts after a student has successfully completed their dissertation and lasts for around 6 years. It allows early career researchers to gain further academic qualifications, usually with a view to a (junior or assistant) professorship, Habilitation, or an equivalent qualification.
The Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (GS-HSS) is the point of contact and source of information for postdocs in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and provides a forum for exchange and continuing education.
