With this privacy policy, we would like to inform you about what data the University of Basel collects, processes and discloses from you as a user of the "Phil" app and for what purpose, and what measures the University of Basel takes to ensure the security of this data. We also inform you about your rights by means of this privacy policy.
Personal data is always processed in compliance with the Information and Data Protection Act of the Canton of Basel-Stadt (IDG) applicable to the University of Basel and, if applicable, the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (DSG).

The use of the "Phil" app requires the entry and long-term storage of the following personal data:
To use certain features, you can also voluntarily provide additional information that will be transmitted to us and stored by us either temporarily or for a longer period of time. This includes, for example, your telephone number for the transmission of your appointment registrations and any digital documents that you send us for examination/graduation registration.
We only use this data to provide you with a functional app and an optimal individual service (news, events & links from your departments, personal notifications, simplified registration for exam dates, consultation appointments, etc.) and to protect your data from unwanted access by third parties via login.
We process this data in accordance with Art. 9 of the Information and Data Protection Act of the Canton of Basel-Stadt (IDG) and the corresponding university regulations.

on the basis of legal requirements (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. c GDPR) or in the public interest (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. e GDPR)

You can revoke any consent you have given us for certain services at any time with effect for the future. Personal data that has already been collected will be deleted if it is no longer required for the purposes for which it was collected. The data will be blocked instead of deleted if there are legal or contractual reasons for not deleting it.

We only use access data to track malfunctions, analyze the use of the app and optimize its functionality and usability.

In addition, there is the data stored by Google or Apple (in some cases only with your consent) in their tools - e.g. installations, updates, uninstallations and crashes of the app.
The analytics component "Matomo" (previously Piwik) is integrated into the "Phil" app. Its purpose is to collect and evaluate data about the behavior of users of the app. It collects anonymized data about which sections/pages/functions were accessed when, for how long, how often, on which device type and operating system and from which region and is used exclusively to optimize the app.

The measures to be taken depend on the type of information, the type and purpose of use and the current state of the art.
The University of Basel has not checked websites and apps that are connected via hyperlinks in the "Phil" app, nor the RRS feeds displayed, and accepts no liability for their content or for the products, services and other offers they provide.
Users of the "Phil" app have the right at any time within the framework of the applicable legal provisions
