Equal opportunities plan of the University of Basel
Equal opportunities
Equal opportunities is an overarching goal with high priority at the University of Basel and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. It should be cultivated institutionally in organization, teaching, career advancement and research and include all Groups.
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences defines its own goals and measures in its faculty equality plan, taking into account the university-wide equality plan. The measures also included the establishment of a permanent committee for equal opportunities in the spring semester of 2017. The committee advises the faculty and the departments with their boards on issues relating to equal opportunities and diversity. In doing so, it pays particular attention to the promotion of young academics. The Equal Opportunity Commissioner, elected by the Faculty Assembly from among the members of Group I, chairs the Equal Opportunity Committee. He or she represents the equal opportunities concerns of the faculty and works towards the realization of equal opportunities within the faculty.
